 | Preface | Sep 20, 2007 |
Since 1974, Youngster of Indonesia anda Youngster of Canada work together hand in hand in both countries Indonesia and Canada in a small rural community to serve the communities development. The past participants has spread out in their own respective countries and overseas. All of them have covered their own idea base on CWY and Indonesia Youth Exchange Program experiences to be a man and stand on their own feet with conscistent to be a great world life harmony, peace and secure. This site just a small effort to show them a bridge to step on and run to the next side of the world in keeping friendship base on international community development, cross cultural exchange and language learning . Please reconnect again. And I touched with CWY started at the community called Stettler (1980).Living in Stettler. The Stettler Town and County area is known as the "Heart Of Alberta". Stettler's central location makes it an attractive location for distribution and manufacturing. Oil and natural gas, coal, sulfur, gravel, sand, agricultural and dairy products are some of the raw resources found in the Stettler vicinity. The population of Stettler's main trading area is over 11,000 people. The proximity of many rural communities creates a potential market of over 37,999 people. It extends in an elliptic fashion from west of Stettler to the Saskatchewan border, northward to Camrose and south to Drumheller. To whom of alumni would like to share their own history during got along with CWY of the whole years, please do not hesitate to send your idea, articles, photos or journal and current news of CWY Alumni issues to the admin of this Site via email to: cwyalumniindonesia@gmail.com. This is open space for every singgle of the CWY Alumni of Indonesia from the begining of the program 1974 until the end year whenever we are still alive.

 | Vacancy project supervisor Xchange phase 2
dear all, Following the success of the world youth/Global Xchange programme, British Council Indonesia is recruiting a Project Supervisor fir its next phase
Global Xchange overview can be seen in www.britishcouncil.org/indonesia-job-opportunity.htm Each cross cultural team of volunteers is supported by two PS, one from indonesia and one from the UK. The PS is responsible for developing the programme in the host community and with their UK PS counterpart, for facilitating the implementation of the 6-month programme in Indonesia and Uk. Hours will be irregular and the PS will need to be availableon call for participants and take a lead in providing support during the programme. It is important for applicants to realize that this is a very demanding role- and definitely not a typical 9-5 job!
please visit the website for further information |
 | Global Exchange
Eighteen participants took part in the year’s Global Xchange (GX), which paired young people from King’s Lynn in Norfolk and with young people from Kupang, capital of East Nusa Tenggara province. Each participant spent three months hosting a guest, and then became a guest in turn.
The youth exchange programme is designed for young people aged 18-25 and is designed to develop active global citizens who embrace diversity, understand global inequalities and value community action.
The programme found that both sides in the exchange programme had much to learn from their counterparts. One participant from Kupang said that even though the UK community was more culturally diverse than the Indonesian one, “People were actually less accepting of other cultures and faiths in the UK.” Participants also said they found that they had far more in common than they had expected, and that they learned to appreciate the differences in culture, religion and politics. Indonesian participants also commented on the differences between their own busy, often mixed-ethnic communities and their UK host community but said that even people who did not speak each other’s languages could get on well together.
In Kupang, the local Scouts, together with the provincial government, the Volunteer Service Organisation (VSO) and the British Council Indonesia chose nutrition and herbal medicine gardening as themes for projects. Groups of four were assigned to a prominent local location where they built a nutrition and herbal medicine garden over a period of seven weeks. Two to three afternoons per week, volunteers worked in cross-cultural pairs in eight schools in Kupang.
In King’s Lynn, the GX Team enjoyed a survival camp in the winter and organized a fund-raising campaign for the victims of the earthquake in Pakistan that turned out to be much bigger than expected. This endeavour resulted in a sizeable donation that was channelled to the earthquake refugees by a local church. Contact us for more information or call us at+62 21 515 5561. |
